Marilyn Sofa

I wouldn't normally be interested in The Marilyn Sofa by Gufram, (Italy 1986) but I have to say the way Maison Martin Margiela used it in the L’Île aux Oiseaux, a suite designed by the Belgium house in the 5-star retreat Les Sources de Caudalie in Bordeaux, France is kinda of genius.

The combination of rustic (bones of the structure, MMM trompe l'oeil wallpaper, and the shabby chic slip covers) the minimal color palette, mostly white meets contemporary/pop (the sleek mirrored coffee table and red lips sofa) is quite a visual feast. How "avant-garde"...my favorite term in fashion school.

An upcoming Modern Design auction starting Oct. 12th @wright20 has The Marilyn Sofa from Charles Stendig's residence. Click here to view full lots.
