Tadao Touch

The Tadao touch - Ando's complete works to date. Limited to 300 numbered and signed copies, presented in a custom oakwood-box designed by the architect.
Tadao is one of the greatest living architects and one of my favorites. He uses both Japanese influence and modernism in ways that incorporate concrete, wood, water, light, space, and nature.
This book looks stunning, but for a thousand bucks I don't think it will be making it next to the other Ando Book in my library...unless someone wants to get it for me. wink wink.

Maroma

In honor of our wedding anniversary this week, I thought I'd share some pics of where we had our glorious honeymoon; Maroma Resort and Spa located on the Mexican Caribbean at the Riviera Maya outside Cancun, Mexico. It was truly the best holiday I've ever had. White sand, sun, crystal turquoise blue waters...sounds so good on this dreary Thurs. afternoon.
My least favorite day was when we left the resort to go sight seeing. Now that we have a pretty rambunctious little boy, I don't think we will be back for at least 18 years.

Kenny Schachter

It was cool to see my husband's cousin, Kenny Schachter's townhouse in London on last week's episode of 9 by Design on Bravo. My husband Jon usually stays with Kenny and his family when he's in town. I've heard all about his townhouse, but have yet to see it for myself in person. On the show, Kenny saves the day and offers up his home to host a party (that had no venue at the last minute) promoting the release of Sixx Design's new book, "Downtown Chic."

Kenny's home is FILLED with amazing contemporary art and design pieces and was labeled an "advant-garde playground" by the New York Times. I'm sure the 2000 sq. ft. MacDonald's style playground for his four boys had something to do with part of that description.

If you aren't familiar with Kenny, he's a "curator, artist, art dealer, songwriter, designer, thinker, property developer, entrepreneur, and much more. Kenny’s a New Yorker who founded ROVE in 1990, a nomadic gallery/curatorial project. In 2001 he established the gallery ContTEMPorary, designed by Vito Acconci, located first in New York and since 2004 in London’s Kings Cross and Hoxton Square. Amongst a myriad of live projects, Schachter currently has a planning application pending to erect the very first UK built construction by Zaha Hadid. He has also just published a book that reflects a series of conversations between Kenny and Vito Acconci."-Camron

Check out Kenny's ROVE TV and his Blog.

Shop the Store : : Matteo

This weekend I hit up the Matteo Sample Sale. I actually ran down there on Friday afternoon when I found out about it, only to go back again on Saturday to exchange a duvet cover I bought that was mis-marked in the wrong size.... whateves.
I walked away with "Top of Bed" Coverings in the "Vintage Linen" and "Botanica". Not only is their line of yummy cottons and linens great for big beds, I'm head over heels for their Bambino- "Vintage Linen" and "Combed Cotton" nursery bedding. What I especially love is the simple, uncomplicated styles and with delicate details using the "softest linen on the market" and 300 thread count "cozy" brushed cotton. So Delish.

Hotel Lautner

I'm eagerly awaiting the opening of Hotel Lautner in Desert Hot Springs. Built and designed by John Lautner in 1947, the "four interlocking structures" was purchased by Interior Designer Tracy Beckmann and Furniture Designer Ryan Trowbridge back in '08 who plan to make it "the ultimate desert compound." Soft opening is scheduled sometime this year.

Rajasthan

I found this lovely book while on my trip in New York.
The author, Pauline van Lynden, "has used her unparalleled archives to create this lavish book.... more than 300 pages in which she collages of her photographs, stories, personal impressions and clear descriptions of arts, crafts, and traditions" of this colorful country.
~Hoping to add it to my collection of books as inspiration.

Eternal Balloons

I'm not sure if I'll be able to do my Friday's "1st Dibs Finds" post because I will be traveling.
Wanted to leave you with "Helium Eternal Balloons." Handmade by Clementine Henrion at his workshop in Paris.
-"This “illusion” of an helium balloon is entirely made of precious or fancy fabric. There is no helium in this Helium Eternal balloon : it is stuffed with kapok, like a soft pillow. A tiny flap fixed at the top of the balloon helps hanging it to your interior’s ceiling, hook it to a curtain rod, the top of a wall etc. The key thing is to hang it up as high as possible, in order to recreate the magic illusion of a real flying helium balloon! The most beautiful effect is obtained in setting a bunch of several balloons together, forming a “balloons bouquet”.
My little guy would go nutso over these!

Beach House

In 2010, this beach house seems so fitting. A simple, uncomplicated structure, open to the hills on one side and the surf on the other. Cooled by the ocean breeze and heated by the sun, what more would I need?
Maybe just my Louis Vuitton Covered iPad.
