Santa Monica Airlines

Over the weekend we took our 1 1/2 yr. old son to the Cove Skate Park in Santa Monica. He just loves skateboards; he's been doing tricks off any toy that has wheels on it, he stops in his tracks to watch anyone on a board, and is all over his Skateboard Mag that we got him. Anyway, we went to the park just to watch. We left the park with his very first Santa Monica Airlines board (given to us by a friend.) He's so psyched!

No Skateboarding @ Westweek

My good friend David McCauley and I hit up Westweek at the PDC in LA today. This morning we headed over to listen to Margret Russell editor-in-chief of Elle Decor magazine, Mayer Rus of Los Angeles Times Magazine, Michael Bruno of 1st Dibs and Interior Designer Vicente Wolf give their two cents on Design in the Digital Age. A lot of talk about blogging...which of course I'm interested in. Loved hearing Mayer talk about his drinking and drugging.
Then after hitting up a few showrooms, raiding their buffet tables for lunch h'orderves, we went to another keynote, hearing a little bit more of the same thing: "Design Revolution" and the "New Media Landscape"= more talk on blogging.

These are great. Atelier Stackable Stools available through Lawson-Fenning in Los Angeles. The wood top is made from reclaimed poplar and the base is graphite-colored steel. Nice vibe.

Offering Vessel

While flipping through April's Elle Decor Mag, I came across Cathy Vandewalle's Penthouse in Bangkok. The space was photographed by highly regarded Interior Designer Vicente Wolf (whose blog I happen to follow.)
I've seen offering vessels used many times by designers, but the display of her collection in the guest room just look so cool. They really are stunning in quantity!

Horizon

Loving the crisp look of the Horizon Rug Collection by Woodnotes. These paper yarn and cotton blend rugs happen to be hypo-allergenic, extremely durable and eco- friendly.

Chew Chew...please

When I first saw the "Chew Chew Spoon" I thought, "OMG that's cute, but who would design such a tacky eating utensil for a kid." Well, that was when I had a baby who hadn't started eating solid food yet. Now, I have a toddler. After I spend close to an hour making him something fresh and healthy, he sits there, starts to whine and hands his plate back to me without even tasting what's on it. I now know why. Whatever works!

Gems and Minerals

We took a trip to the Natural Museum of History in Los Angeles a few weeks ago. It was such a blast! One part that really intrigued me was the Gem and Mineral Exhibit. It was stunning to say the least. The ones above inspired me in so many different ways; Color, Volume, Shape and Texture. I just felt the need to share.

Ram On It

You know I got a pair of aluminum cast deer antler candle holders a few years ago, but got over them in a "hot second" cause they seemed to get too trendy, real fast and I just ended up giving them away. Now, I'm really into these Silver Ram Horn Candle Holders (and the fuchsia pink candles!) found at photographer Nela K├Ânig's home.
