Blanco y Negro

Some pretty spectacular images from A-cero Architects of a house they designed in the Spanish city of A Coruña. What I'm loving the most is the black slate for the exterior cladding which extends to the roof and the black and white option that doesn't allow for any distraction of the amazing views of the water and landscape. Just not sure how I could handle those stairs after a couple of margaritas.

Yello Rhino

You know even though stuffed animals are cute and all, I'm just not that into them. But I am into this Rhinoceros by Belgian artist, Carsten Höller. Made out of polyvinyl, polyurethane foam, polyester resin and glass. I would definitely love to have this guy hanging around.

1st Dibs Finds

Ok, I've seen other design blogs do "Esty Finds", "Flicker Finds" and "Ebay Finds" on Fridays. I'm going to start doing "1st Dibs Finds". There are too many amazing pieces out there not to share with you; like these. I found a stunning set of Italian brass chairs upholstered in black suede (I'd change to midnight blue velvet) and this spectacular 60's Cittone Brass Dining Table from two separate vendors. WOW! What a statement this would make!

What!

"Known for such work as world renowned museums and Beijing’s Olympic stadium, the Prizsker prize winning Swiss team of Herzog & de Meuron took on a luxury high rise residence tower in New York City on 56 Leonard Street. The 57 story tower is not for the faint of heart, those whose knees get wobbly as they look down from high places as the penthouses merge the indoor with the outdoor. Nor is it for anyone on a tight budget. Units go for $3.5 - $33 million for the penthouses."

FORM

It's been one of those weeks. I've been feeling under the weather (coming and goin' since September...damn "Super Bug!") and intermittent internet service has caused me to miss a few days worth of posts. My apologies.
Anyway...onto better things. LOVE the Form Lounge Chair by Kartell. Designed by Piero Lissoni looks like it has a hard seat, but it's not...it has a soft polyurethane seat. Not the cheapest chair around, but I did find one one Craigslist for almost have the price. Quoting DJ Lance, a couple of these in a playroom would look "AWESOMME!"

Wow! I'm psyched to find this great source of Turkish Kilim pillow covers. There are so many... hard to choose just a few.

Very Unique

This weekend I went to check out the Unique Independent Design and Gift Show downtown LA.
There were a few things that stuck out for me and I thought I'd share with you.
The first thing that really caught my eye were Jen Zahigian's Roadside Photographs. She's got some pretty amazing shots that are reasonable priced for sale at her etsy shop.
Then I happened into search+resQ design collective's booth. Ando Pndlia, a practicing architect and one part of the collective, had some really intriguing wood pieces. The clock pictured above is an etching on bamboo. He also had some reclaimed wood pieces, skate decks turned clocks and a new table that had an etched design that started on the wood and continued onto glass. Very cool.
When I spotted what seemed like a hundred robot dolls I had to stop and check them out. The Kauzbot come in a bunch of different colors and 10% of the retail price is donated to the "kause close to that robot’s heart." Very cute! I wanted to get all one hundred.
And the last thing I saw that I really liked was bamboo elephant bookends from Ribbit Stopit. Their main focus is to produce children's toys and puzzles that are locally made with 100% non toxic & sustainable materials.
