Magic, Luck & Friendship

You know I'm not expecting anything for Christmas, but........if someone really wanted to find out what I might want, they don't have to look any further than my blog. One thing I would be really be into receiving would be the "FriendsWithYou" book. It "documents and highlights the best moments of magic being spread from here to there. 180 pages of magic, luck and friendship. See spirits and toys and art installations, performance, pictures, secrets and more."
This art collective out of Miami has done all those those things including designing a several rooms at the Hotel Fox in Copenhagen. I had to show you their Two Swans (Fertility Shrine) room. "Celebrate life and free yourself from your daily inhibitions. Let the gentle ambiance of this sacred forest be your guide, as you slip into your true self. You may never want to leave.” I have a feeling my little guy would be all over this place!

MassiveMusic

I'm sure you have noticed that the last few posts of mine have been in some way or another related to music. Seems like I'm on a roll....so why stop now? I R E A L L Y like the interiors that Ronald Hooft @ PRASTHOOFT did to the Amsterdam offices of MassiveMusic. Loving the slab wood conference table, the black and white mural of speakers and the way he used the color orange throughout. Very cool.

Anvil

Ok, my latest obsession is with Anvil cases. Yeah, I saw the small one at the Ace Hotel NY, then I spotted the console from Diesel. Looks so fresh! I've been trying to find a cool idea for a coffee table that could also do double duty as toy storage. BINGO> Found the blue one on Craigslist. Perfect!

Aesthetic Apparatus

Found some great band posters and art prints by Aesthetic Apparatus. I like changing the look of my little guy's room by switching up the art on his walls. Think these might be on my next round.

Think Fast!

Sometimes when a trend hits, it hits HARD (like this one). What else can we put chalk paint on?

Hey DJ

Saturday we took our little guy to the Sold Out show of Yo Gabba Gabba's "There's a Party In My City" at the Shrine Auditorium. We had a BLAST! Cold War Kids, Biz Markie, and Sarah Silverman all showed up. Before we went I checked out there website. It's great...gotta check out the videos. See Cornelius doing 1-2-3-4-5-6! It's one of my favs.

The W

I tweeted yesterday that the W Los Angeles-Westwood Hotel has turned their swimming pool into an ice rink. "The Backyard will be transformed into a winter wonderland, complete with a skating rink and holiday beverages!" Here in LA, where the temperatures are still in the 70's and 80's, we need all the winter wonderland vibe we can get during the holidays. Can't wait to check it out.
Thought the beautiful work of Ray Caesar shown above was very fitting.

Brionvega Radiofonografio

Most of you might know that my husband is in the music business so there's a lot of music going on around here (and equipment for that matter) at all times, especially in the office that we both share. So, when I spotted the rr226 by Brionvega stereo sound system, I thought it was a nicely designed piece to share and appreciate.
"In 1965, the 'musical component robot' was a home electronic marvel that in one sleekly designed device included a radio, amplifiers and a record player (for both 45s and 33s)." Today's model is kept as close to the original, but includes updated features such as CD and DVD players. The amplifiers are movable for different configurations. Very nice indeed.

Are We Not Men!

Brought to you by the front-man of Devo, Mark Mothersbaugh Rugs. I'm reminded of the fun we used to have doing (ok...I just watched) Punk Rock Karaoke at Vida Restaurant in Los Feliz back in the mid 90's. Mark would come up and do his thing. It was so fun and so are these rugs!

Sheep

I want these Rocking Sheep by Danish designer, Povl Kj√¶rmade. Povl first designed the Rocking Sheep for his niece, "as a humorous reminder of her parents’ rural origins." The sheep are made from varnished pinewood and upholstered with rubber foam and sheepskin.

ABC Animals

The ABC Animals Phone app is really great. I go thru the alphabet with my little guy most everyday. He really loves it. The app has been described as "Elegant in its simplicity." Fun and engaging animal illustrations help to keep learning ABC's fun! Audio accompanies each card providing a letter name, associated animal name and the phonetics for each letter. Double tap any card to flip it over and practice tracing both uppercase and lowercase letters right on the screen of your iPhone.
If you have a little one....go get it!
